Souray joins the Ducks.

Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports the Anaheim Ducks have signed defenseman Sheldon Souray to a three year, $11 million contract.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: That’s a cap hit of over $3.66 million per season for Souray, who two years ago the Edmonton Oilers couldn’t give away, and who was forced to accept a one-year, $1.65 million contract with the Stars, when it seemed his NHL career was over.  Not surprised the Ducks pursued Souray after trading away Lubomir Visnovsky, but this deal seems a little too long and too expensive for a soon-to-be 36-year-old d-man who has a lengthy injury history and is pretty much a power-play specialist at this point in his career.
