Garrison a Canuck

TSN’s Bob McKenzie reports former Florida Panthers defenseman Jason Garrison has signed with the Vancouver Canucks. Details to follow…

**UPDATE** It’s reportedly a six-year deal at an average annual cap hit of $4.6 million.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: For Garrison, it’s a boyhood dream come true, as he becomes a Canuck. It’s a lengthy deal for the Canucks, likely to get the cap hit to under $5 million per. It’s also a lengthy gamble for Garrison, who is cashing in on what is one strong season (33 points in 77 games in 2011-12) in his short (3 seasons) NHL career. Garrison has a terrific shot, which could make him a good addition to the Canucks power-play, but it remains to be seen if his performance last season was indicative of more to come, or a one-off.
