Tyler Seguin hoping to sign a contract extension before expiration of this CBA, David Krejci shrugs off trade rumors, and Evander Kane keeps mum on his contract talks.
NBC SPORTS PRO HOCKEY TALK/CSNNE.COM: reports Bruins forward Tyler Seguin is hoping to sign a contract extension with the Bruins prior to the September 15th expiration date of the current CBA. Seguin confirmed he’s had contract talks with Bruins management and so far they’re going well.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Considering what Hall (who was selected just ahead of Seguin in the 2010 entry draft) received from the Oilers, and that they’re nearly comparable in NHL career points (Seguin had better numbers – albeit in more games – than Hall last season), it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Seguin’s new contract comes in close to Hall’s $6 million per.
ESPN.COM: James Murphy reports Bruins forward David Krejci isn’t bothered by trade rumors which have dogged him since his poor performance in this spring’s playoffs.
“I didn’t pay too much attention because at the end of the season we had meetings with the coach and with Peter (Chiarelli). So I know what those guys think about me and I know they want me here. I didn’t pay too much attention to it.”
SPECTOR’S NOTE: Krejci was linked to Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle in recent trade rumors but those appear more like wishful thinking than anything based in reality.
WINNIPEG SUN/WINNIPEG FREE PRESS: Jets forward Evander Kane isn’t talking about his contract negotiations with the club, nor would he address rumors claiming he wants to be traded. Jets management and Kane’s agent has shot down the latter.
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The holdup in Kane’s negotiations could be the ongoing NHL CBA talks, as one side or the other might be waiting to see what’s implemented in the next agreement and how it could benefit them. As for those trade rumors, they’re about as reliable as those which linked Krejci to Yandle.
