TSN.CA reports the New York Rangers have agreed to tentative terms on a two-year contract with restricted free agent defenseman Michael Del Zotto.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Financial terms weren’t disclosed. It’ll be interesting to see if it was Del Zotto or GM Glen Sather who shifted their stance to get this deal done. The Rangers need Del Zotto’s offensive skills, especially on the power-play, so it made no sense to be locked in a protracted contract standoff in this shortened season, one where some consider the Blueshirts a favorite to win the Stanley Cup this year.

**UPDATE** Del Zotto’s financial terms is just over $5 million over the two years, for a cap hit of $2.55 million per season.
