The Maple Leafs and Oilers lose, updates on Erik Karlsson and Roberto Luongo , and more.

TORONTO STAR: The Tampa Bay Lightning snapped a six-game losing skid with a 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs, preventing the Leafs from gaining ground in the standings on the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: At least the Leafs ended their ten-game streak of being out-shot.

EDMONTON JOURNAL: The Chicago Blackhawks clinched the President’s Trophy with a 4-1 victory over the Oilers, handing the latter their ninth loss in ten games.

Erik Karlsson inches closer to a return.

Erik Karlsson inches closer to a return.

OTTAWA SUN: Senators defenseman Erik Karlsson continues to inch closer toward returning from a 70 percent tear in his Achilles tendon.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I just hope Karlsson doesn’t push it too hard. It would be a shame for him to suffer a setback at this point.

VANCOUVER SUN: Roberto Luongo will be in goal for tonight’s game against Anaheim, as Cory Schneider is apparently day-to-day with an injury.

WINNIPEG SUN: The Jets must win tonight’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, then pray for the Senators and/or NY Rangers to lose their remaining two games.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: I don’t like the Jets chances. You never want to be in a position where you’re behind by a point, with only one game left in the season, while the clubs you’re trying to catch have games in hand.

MONTREAL GAZETTE: The Canadiens have called up young blueliner Jarred Tinordi.

CALGARY HERALD: Mark Cundari, who joined the Flames in the Jay Bouwmeester trade, is looking forward to facing his former club as the Flames face the St. Louis Blues.
