Updates on Roberto Luongo, Carey Price, Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle, plus an update on the Senators.

VANCOUVER SUN: Cam Cole on Roberto Luongo starting a new chapter, which includes re-establishing himself as the Canucks top goaltender and as Team Canada’s starter in the upcoming Sochi Olympics.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The problem for Luongo now is he’s in his mid-thirties, with his best seasons behind him. Given the Canucks lack of goaltending depth he’s their obvious starter for the upcoming season, but that’s less of a certainty with Team Canada.

Will Taylor Hall & Jordan Eberle make the cut for Team Canada?

Will Taylor Hall & Jordan Eberle make the cut for Team Canada?

EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jim Matheson believes Oilers young stars Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle, though invited to Canada’s Olympic orientation camp, will be in tough to make the team. Matheson noted Hall’s competition includes “Chris Kunitz, Rick Nash, Andrew Ladd, Milan Lucic and Patrick Sharp”, while Eberle’s includes Martin St. Louis, James Neal and Jeff Carter.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: How well Hall and Eberle perform in the opening third of the season should determine if they ultimately make the cut or not.

RDS.CA: Just hours following his marriage, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has put off his honeymoon to attend Team Canada’s orientation camp with his new bride’s blessing.

OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Senators will take 26 players to the four-team rookie tournament (the Blackhawks, Penguins and Maple Leafs are the other participants) next week in London, Ontario.
