OTTAWA CITIZEN: The Senators yesterday announced Jason Spezza as their new team captain. Chris Phillips and Chris Neil will be the alternates.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: No surprise in this announcement, as Spezza was considered the favorite for the role. It’s a good choice, as Spezza has blossomed among the club’s leaders in recent years. He’s also the most media-savvy and is currently the face of the franchise.
