Among the 37 players placed on waivers are Toronto’s John-Michael Liles, Detroit’s Cory Emmerton, Los Angeles’ Jeff Schultz and Buffalo’s Alex Sulzer. If these players go unclaimed, they’ll be demoted to their respective clubs’ AHL farm teams.

TSN.CA: The Florida Panthers will sign UFA defenseman Ryan Whitney to a one-year, $900K contract. The Panthers signed forward Brad Boyes and defensemen Tom Gilbert during the weekend. Whitney was recently released from a PTO contract with the St. Louis Blues.
