DENVER POST: Jamie McGinn scored the game’s only goal as the Colorado Avalanche blanked the LA Kings 1-0. Avalanche coach Patrick Roy continues to be a big hit with his players.

STLTODAY.COM: Six different Blues scored (including David Backes, T.J. Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko) in their 6-1 victory over the Dallas Stars to extend their record to 8-1-1 in their last ten games.

BOSTON HERALD: David Krejci’s overtime tally lifted the Boston Bruins to a 3-2 win over the struggling Carolina Hurricanes.

MERCURYNEWS: The San Jose Sharks extended their home record to 7-1-2 with a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils.

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: Ryan McDonagh potted the game winner and backup Cam Talbot collected his second straight shutout with a 2-0 blanking of the Nashville Predators.

PHILLY.COM: The Philadelphia Flyers extended their points streak to seven (6-0-1) by downing the New York Islanders 5-2.

MLIVE.COM: Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk will skip Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres after being elbowed in the head by Ottawa’s Jared Cowen. It’s feared Datsyuk suffered a concussion. No penalty was called but the video could be reviewed by the league.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: The last thing the struggling Wings need is to lose their best player to concussion. 

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES: Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa returned to Chicago for personal reasons.
